THE NEGATIVES
The Negatives (Swe) are Punk Rock directly from the heart and brought out without any doubts and it sounds like a kick in the head. The band sounds like a mix between Dropkick Murphys, U.K. Subs, The Business and Street Dogs – punk rock with an attitude!!! The inspiration comes mainly from good old-fashioned Punk rock, in the veins of never forgetting their roots. Their lyrics handles topics such as living in the society today, greed of power, the rising of the classes against the masses and other things they hate or dislike and also likes about this fuckin´ world.
In 1999 the band members got together and talked about starting up a punkband. They had discussed it before several times while out drinking but it never came to anything. They wanted to have a band with the attitude "back to the roots punk rock".
They started to write some songs and this was something from the heart, the music they've always loved, so they really enjoyed playing together again. 2 members have played in the legendary 80's Swedish Punkbands Existenz and The Bristles. One of them have also played in the Skalatones. In 1999 they recorded seven songs for two different demo-CD's, the "Punkrock Revolution" demo and the "The Negatives" demo. The two demos were out in 2000 and were sent to several fanzines, magazines, radio-stations and record-companies. The response was great.
In 2001 they played some gigs, including support for The Business. They contributed on a couple of compilation CD's and where featured in quite a lot fanzines and web-zines. They were nominated "Demo Band Of The Year 2000" in Sweden's biggest punk/metal magazine, Close-Up. Later that year they once again entered the local studio to record two new songs. These two songs were later in the autumn of 2001 released as a Split-single, both CD and picture 7-inch, with the German band Electric Hellclub. They have two songs each on it. It was released on the new German label Trash 2001 Records.
In March 2002 they recorded their debut album "Rules And Regulations" in Bottrop, Germany and it was released in October 2002 on the same label as the Split-single. Things start rolling and gigs and attention gets bigger. 2003 and 2004 were 2 years with drummer problems. There was no one who fitted in the chair so that was 2 years down the drain. But the band did some gigs around with stand-ins anyway.
In the end of 2004 the band got a brand-new record deal with the German label Core Tex/Bad Dog Records from Berlin and in the autumn of 2005 they released their brand new kicking CD "No Truth - No Justice" which has 12 great Punk Rock songs on it. Trash 2001 Rec. released the LP-version of the album.
The band has had done ton of gigs around in Europe, mostly in Germany.
The band released their 3:rd album “At The End Of The Rope” in July 2007 on the same label as before – Bad Dog Records/ Core Tex.
They also released a split CD with the legendary Japanese band Discocks on the Japan label MCR in 2007 with 5 songs from each group. The songs is from “At the end…..” album.
In April 2008 the 3:rd album “At The End Of The Rope” will be out on LP on the US label Warbird Entertainment. The record will be released as a limited edition, hand-numbered colored LP.
