Subwaste / Tommy Gustafsson & The Idiots
"Split" | Warbird #002 | CD | 2008

2 Swedish bands on a split CD released by an American label, and then sent back to a Swedish man for review. How funny it can be sometimes..
SUBWASTE is best described as melodic punk rock, or street punk as they actually called it in the late '90s, inspired by other Swedish bands like BOMBSHELL ROCKS and DOWN AND AWAY. Which I suppose are inspired by RANCID and so on.. Not bad at all, I like it!
TOMMY GUSTAFSSON & THE IDIOTS started off a side project to DA SKYWALKERS in 2002. They made a 6-track CD-EP and had no plans to continue, but a couple of years after DA SKYWALKERS split up they picked up the band again and recorded 13 tracks in 2006. Their songs on this split-CD are a little harder and faster than SUBWASTE's songs, but still melodic punk rock/street punk. A little like RANDY actually. This is also good stuff!
Well, worth checking out, that's for sure!
